One of these things is not like the other

On our last night before we left, Amber and Jonathon were able to meet us for dinner. It was funny to note that the kids seem to be lapping Amber on height..... Emily is taller, and Mitchel is closing in. They both seemed rather happy at this development!

Going Home

As we packed the car, Mitch got in and wouldn't get out. When I asked him why he said in his most pathetic voice "I just miss my home."

He fell right back asleep.

100 in a 55

Last night it was the "World Famous Trailer Races" at the Rockford Speedway. We got tickets from a friend of ours who owns our old booth and took the kids and some friends. At the end of the regular racing program, they bring out trucks pulling all sorts of trailers, boats, rvs, pick-ups. It's 'til the last trailer trails' so it's kind of a demolition derby. Good times.

Mitchel loves to watch racing, he was so excited all day long.

Here he is at the booth, you can see we have a great view of turn 1 & 2 - although it's only a 1/4 mile track so we can see the whole thing real well.

Mitchel's new look is to put the sweatshirt on his head, I don't know why?

As the evening goes on, he's getting tired, normally he'd whine to leave, but he's waiting for the trailer races. So he starts leaning on Emily more and more.

Emily brought two friends, Jamie and Lauren, and they were all having a good time, especially happy after they ran down and bought their 'glowing fallen halos' as they called them.

In the car, waiting for Dad.... he's tired, yet still smiling.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Emily has now finished up her sophomore softball season (say that three times fast!)

Here's some pictures we took of the last game - afterwards they had some cake and cookies, Emily shows off her jersey, with frosting all over it. And no, she's not giving you the finger, her friend Carley had put her hand there too, and it just looks that way. And they weren't even trying!

Group picture after, we had to do it shoved around the mule, cause one girl rolled her ankle pretty good in the game, and had to be wheeled off. The girls won the JV NIC-10 conference, placed first in one tournament, and 2nd in the other. Overall, a successful season for them.

Mitchel keeps the crowd entertained during the game.

Random picture, Mitchel learning to brown meat for the Tacos.
I'm going to get out of cooking somehow!

Wedgie Time

Emily got some new Cubs sweat pants, although they were a bit long. Before she took them out to Grammas to get hemmed, she demonstrated just how long they were and how much of a wedgie she could manage. She wouldn't let me take a picture of her from the back, apparently afraid they'd end up on the internet somehow. ? Wha???

But Mitchel, ever the sport volunteered to be wedgized...

First of many "my kids are weird" posts to come...
