It's been too long I'm glad to be back Yes, I'm let loose From the noose
Let's Recap Christmas Week shall we?? It began for us on December 22nd - Scott and I headed through HORRIBLE Chicago shopping / O'Hare / people on the road simply to annoy me traffic. We eventually got to the Hilton on Michigan Avenue. It was filled with Chicago Bear fans, and had the occassional sprinkling of misguided Packer Fans. Even with all those people, Scott and I STILL got a few odd glances at our coordinating non matching outfits.
It was so very cool to have a room that had a view of Soldier Field. I LOVE Bear Packer games!! The last one wasn't so hot (we lost.. horribly) so I had great hopes that on Monday Night Football and a playoff berth on the line my boys would come through with a win. It was also cold... bitterly cold.... And my least favorite thing is being cold. So this was going to be interesting.
Let's run through our layers of clothing, shall we?
Layer one... I used those thera heat things that stick on your body. They last about 8 hours. I put them on my legs, back, neck. I had two sets of toe warmers and hand warmers inside my gloves. Then we had a layer of under armor, jeans and ski pants. On the top I had about 5 layers, a scarf, a ski mask and topped with my Bears Santa hat. I can honestly say I wasn't bothered by the cold after that. Really!!! I was also so overly excited to be there I'm sure that Watching The Bears/Packers kept me warm!
Here is a picture of me about 45 minutes before the game: Already excited!!!
Remember in the 4th quarter with :25 seconds left my boys blocked the supposed game winning field goal attempted by the Packers? This was our view of that goal post. It should also be noted that I totally called the blocking of the field goal. Nobody beleived me when I said it, Scott was giddy, the boys behind me saddened by the thought of our season being over... but when we blocked it... The boys believed in me.
How did Scott look you wonder? Here he is! He's not ashamed to show his colors. He did get quite a bit of heckling, but it wasn't mean, the guy in front of us was slightly obnoxious but not in an asshole kind of way, more in a "he's probably always an idiot" kidn of way.
Here were my boys coming out of the tunnel at the beginning of the game.

Oh, and Scott wasn't the only packer fan there.... apparently Cheese Butt showed up. I don't know who #4 was... he doesn't like to play in the cold so I'm sure he was happy for yet one more reason not to be a packer.

At the half, there was a really nice fireworks display. I believe it was still something like -20 degrees outside at the time.

4th quarter - Scott did decide to put his packer jacket on ....

I don't have pics of the end of the game - I was too busy yelling and jumping and cheering :)
the next day we were going to walk around Michigan Ave, with all the Christmas Festiveness in the air... BUT... there was a lot of snow coming down and the traffic reports were that things were getting worse around all the roads leading home. Since it took us so long to get in the day before we figured not to waste time and travel when the roads were worse. We had a bite to eat at the Hardrock, then headed home at noon. Still took us over 2 1/2 hours, we kept moving, but man... there was a ton of traffic!
All in all, I had an absolutely fantastic time - I would love to go again to a game no matter the weather. I know I could handle it! Although September is nice too!
